Growing up in Maine, I spent plenty of long, cold winter evenings curled up with Madeleine L'Engle's A Wrinkle in Time, Noel Streatfeild's "Shoes" series, Edward Eager's playful fantasies, and the cozy Betsy-Tacy stories.
